via SeasideStrong .com – Seaside Park, NJ: SEASIDE IN LOCKDOWN. A Sempre Five fundraising running event was stopped as a pipe bomb explodes in a garbage can on the racecourse. Several un-exploded suspicious devices were also located. A four block are has been evacuated.

The run would have passed the garbage can explosion area if the race was delayed.

The race benefits Marine charities.

The Seaside boardwalk was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy in 2012 followed by a massive fire. The fire was caused by an electrical junctions box which was wet with salt water during the storm.
